Tourmaline var. Liddicoatit – Todom Ilapa, Sahatany Valley, Ibity, Antsirabe, Madagascar
 
This highly lustrous, transparent Tourmaline var. Liddicoatite shows a sharp, intense green phantom which contrasts well with the dark red to dark violet core. With additional transmitted light, a second, brownish-red phantom appears in the lower area. The flawless crystal shows clear striations on the prisms and a lustrous, smooth surface on the termination. Particularly noteworthy is the rarely so perfect ditrigonal-pyramidal crystal shape. 
At 61 carats, the liddicoatite from this find with the green zoning is a good size.
