Zircon in Albite matrix - Gridone near Camedo, Centovalli, Ticino, Switzerland
 
Polyhedral lenticular, brownish-pink Zircon crystal (1.3 cm) in marble-like Albite matrix. Recovered in August 2019 from Nepheline pegmatite #2 on the northern flank of Gridone mountain. All Zircons of this worldwide unique locality (cf. LAPIS 10/2007) are chemically particularly pure and hence show an intense yellow fluorescence in short-wave UV light!
